Evidence of Azerbaijan's wine-making past was uncovered during archaeological excavations in places like Kultapa, Qarabaglar, and Galajig. These excavations revealed stone fermentation and storage containers with remnants and grape seeds dating back to the second millennium BC. The Ancient Greeks were already aware of wine production in this region by the 7th century BC, as documented by Herodotus. In the 1st century BC, Strabo mentioned a particular Azerbaijani wine known as Albania.
Azerbaijan plays a significant role in wine production within the Caspian Sea region today. Currently, the country boasts nearly 10 wineries and vineyards that produce wine.
Our tour offers you the opportunity to experience the unique flavors of Azerbaijani wine and delve into the wine-making process. During the tour, you'll get to learn about the distinctive qualities of Azerbaijani grapes and explore a wine factory that utilizes special techniques to showcase Azerbaijan's red and white wines to the international community.
